Cams and FriendsRock climbing cams consist of 3 or 4 cams mounted on an axle in such a way that pulling on the shaft connected to the axle forces the cams to spread further apart. The SLCD is used like a syringe, by pulling the cams with the trigger, the climbing camgoes into a crack or pocket in the rock, and then releasing the trigger seats it firmly in place. If you want a micro cam, all of the above cams offer some very microscopic sizes. The micro 3cu's are better if the placement is narrow since they have 3 cams and not 4 which makes the device wider. The rock empire flexor cams come with a single flexible stems and a very easy trigger mechanism. Their flexible single stem design allows them to go into cracks and crevices with sharp edges without the worry of the stem breaking. The rock empire robot cams are a two stem design which does make them heavier, but can aid with stability in certain placements. Often times, it comes down to personal preference on which type of design to chose from.
